The Independent Electrical Contractors, Inc. (IEC) is pleased to announce that the IEC Southern Colorado Chapter received an IEC National Award of Excellence in Residential Electrical Construction.

For contract amounts up to five hundred thousand dollars, the IEC Southern Colorado Chapter was recognized for their work on the Barrett family house during a taping of ABC-TV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. In a joint venture of contractor members, more than 147 IEC electricians volunteered their time and worked around the clock to build the Barrett family a new home in one week.

“IEC National would like to congratulate IEC Southern Colorado contractors and industry partners for a job well done. Your willingness to get out there and get the job done on behalf of a deserving family made the PRIDE of IEC shine bright over the mountains of Colorado,” said Larry Mullins, IEC National Executive Vice President.

The Barrett family made a special appearance at the 48th Annual IEC National Convention and IEC Electric Expo 2005 to present the IEC Southern Colorado Chapter and each of the participating contractor members with their awards. 

IEC National Awards of Excellence in Residential Electrical Construction are presented each year in four categories at the Annual IEC National Convention and IEC Electric Expo.
